UPDATE: Maryland Juice just received confirmation of the rumors below from former Delegate Justin Ross:
Delegate Justin Ross of Prince George's County stunned Maryland politicos when he announced his retirement from the General Assembly last September. An anonymous source now indicates that Ross will be forming a new all-star lobbying firm in Annapolis with two other well-connected guns for hire: Senate President Mike Miller's former Chief of Staff Tim Perry and Governor Martin O'Malley's 2006 campaign manager Josh White.
Perry was Maryland's fourth highest paid lobbyist last year, earning $813,468 at Gordon Feinblatt LLC, and White was lobbying for Rifkin, Livingston, Levitan & Silver, LLC. Notably, Perry's name is no longer listed in the Gordon Feinblatt staff directory and White's name is no longer listed in the Rifkin Livingston staff directory. Lastly, I emailed Justin Ross at his previous email address for his job at the AFL-CIO, and I received the following auto-response:
I haven't yet received confirmation from Ross about these plans, so this is still a rumor. But it looks like the trail of evidence indicates the story may be true. We shall see!
JUSTIN ROSS: David, thanks for reaching out. As always, you got the story right (and ahead of schedule). Keep up the great work.
Sincerely,
Justin Ross
