2014 Governor: Anthony Brown vs. Doug Gansler on Marriage Equality

Gov. O'Malley speaks at Equality Maryland's 9/7/11 event
Maryland Juice volunteered to photograph and videotape Equality Maryland's marriage campaign kickoff last week. Loads of (mostly MoCo) politicos turned up for the event, which in addition to raising money for the organization, honored Governor O'Malley and the four most visible candidates for 2014's Democratic gubernatorial primary: Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown, Atty. Gen. Doug Gansler, Comptroller Peter Franchot and Howard County Exec. Ken Ulman. Unfortunately, Franchot and Ulman were unable to attend.

Maryland Juice captured video footage of all the speakers, including Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown and Attorney General Doug Gansler. We provide head-to-head footage of the gubernatorial candidates below, along with a photo gallery and the full roster of videos at the end of this post.

The videos are interesting to watch not just to hear the two men's musings on marriage equality, but also simply to compare their different speaking styles (at this early stage in the race). I had the opportunity to see Doug Duncan and Martin O'Malley speak back-to-back at a Democratic conference in 2004 -- two year's before their near-showdown in the 2006 gubernatorial primary -- and I found the experience fairly informative. I should note, however, that Gov. O'Malley is a significantly more polished and natural speaker today than when he was Baltimore mayor in 2004. With that note, here are Mr. Gansler and Mr. Brown's speeches:
