PRESS RELEASE:

More Endorsements Roll In for Rob Garagiola for Congress

Campaign Continues to Build Momentum with Grassroots Organizations
Two Weeks Out from the April 3 Primary Election

GERMANTOWN, MD – Rob Garagiola’s candidacy continues to build incredible momentum heading into the April 3 Primary Election. Today, Rob Garagiola is announcing endorsements by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Montgomery County, the American Postal Workers Union, the National Association of Letter Carriers, and the National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association. Garagiola has been endorsed by over 20 organizations that have more than 60,000 members in the Sixth Congressional District. Garagiola is the only candidate to be endorsed by a union or a small business organization.

“As a State Senator, Rob Garagiola looked out for working families and is a champion for unions. As Congressman, we know that Rob Garagiola will work to protect the future of the United States Postal Service and ensure that the USPS continues to deliver to every American home and business six days a week,” said Tonya Detrick, the Maryland Chair of the National Association of Letter Carriers.

“The HCCMC and small businesses in the State have been able to work with Senator Rob Garagiola to promote legislation that is more favorable to our small businesses. He has demonstrated his commitment and willingness to hear us out, and go to bat for us. His availability to the Hispanic Chamber and willingness to respond to our concerns have been key deciding factors in the Chamber's endorsement of his candidacy. We need government to support initiatives that will help small business development and sustainability as a key strategy for getting people back to work; more importantly, we need someone like Senator Garagiola that can speak out in favor of minority owned small businesses, Hispanic entrepreneurs, and underserved communities,”  said Carmen Ortiz Larsen, Vice President of the Chamber and President and CEO of AQUAS, Inc., a local information management consulting, technology integration and transit engineering services firm. "As a small business owner, I appreciate Senator Rob Garagiola's efforts to improve access to health care and to encourage investments in small business and easier access to capital. His Lend Local bill will help us get the loans we need at fair rates,” concluded Ortiz Larsen.

“It’s an honor to receive the endorsements of these organizations. In the State Senate, I’ve been a champion for small businesses and working families. What you’ve done is indicative of what you’ll do, and these organizations have endorsed me because I have a proven track record in the State Senate and I’ll be an effective Member of Congress,” stated Rob Garagiola. “As a Congressman, I’ll work to protect Maryland’s federal workers from Republican attacks and severe budget cuts. We’ve now received the endorsements of over 20 organizations with over 60,000 members in the District. The momentum is clearly on our side,” Garagiola concluded.
