CD6: United Auto Workers (UAW) Endorses Rob Garagiola for Congress

Press Release

UAW Endorses Rob Garagiola for Congress in
Maryland’s Sixth Congressional District

GERMANTOWN, MD – As momentum continues to build for Rob Garagiola’s bid for Congress just three weeks out from the April 3 primary election, today, the United Auto Workers (UAW) endorsed Rob Garagiola for Congress in Maryland’s Sixth Congressional District. The UAW has 1,400 members in the Sixth Congressional District.

“As a Maryland State Senator, Rob Garagiola has stood in solidarity with unions and working families.  He’s been a strong advocate for collective bargaining rights and ensuring fair wages for working people. Rob Garagiola can count on our 1,400 members to show up and vote for him on the April 3 primary,” said David Dopp, Manager of UAW Local 171 and Vice President of UAW’s Maryland CAP. “On the other hand, Rob Garagiola’s opponent, John Delaney, has openly attacked unions and working families. John Delaney has assaulted collective bargaining rights and he’s even indicated that Maryland should become a right to work state like Virginia. John Delaney is dangerous to working families,” concluded Dopp.

“Having been born in Warren, Michigan – the home of the Cadillac, and knowing the importance of the UAW to so many working families, It’s an honor to receive their endorsement,” stated Rob Garagiola. “As the only candidate in this race who has fought for collective bargaining rights and the right of workers to negotiate a fair wage, this endorsement is proof that I’m the only candidate in this race who will be able to get results for working families in Congress. I look forward to the support of the 1,400 UAW members on the April 3 primary,” concluded Garagiola.

Rob Garagiola is the only candidate in this election who has received endorsements from a union or a democratic organization.
