State Senator Rob Garagiola Announces Exploratory Effort for MD 6th Congressional District

Press Release:
State Senator Rob Garagiola will explore Sixth Congressional District Run

Germantown, MD (October 20, 2011) -- Now that Governor O'Malley has signed the new Congressional districts into law, I have begun the process of reaching out to supporters and other leaders to seriously consider a run for Congress in the newly drawn Sixth Congressional District.

Over the last nine years, I have been deeply honored to serve my district in the Maryland Senate. I am proud of my service of leading on important issues and bringing people together to get things done such as creating more health care coverage at a lower cost for our citizens, creating a more sustainable and healthier environment for our children and families, and most importantly fighting for plans to spur Maryland’s economy.

What I have done in Maryland is the same kind of can-do, bi-partisan leadership we need in Washington. As someone who has served our country in uniform, I fundamentally believe that we must end the partisan gridlock in Washington and put our country first, because there's no problem our country cannot solve if we start listening to each other and working together.

That is why I am looking very seriously at running for Congress in the new 6th Congressional District. I will have more to say in the coming days and weeks as I firm up my plans.
