Former Delegate Saqib Ali Files for Montgomery County Board of Education Race

Last December, The Gazette reported that Montgomery County Board of Education member Laura Berthiaume would not seek a second term in office. That creates an open seat for her District 2 position on the Board. Today the fiery activists at the Parents Coalition pointed readers to the newly released list of MoCo's school board candidates in the upcoming April Primary Election. One name stands out: former Delegate Saqib Ali has thrown his hat into ring for Board of Education, District 2.

Note that in Montgomery County, the Board of Education members are all elected at-large (even the District members) -- meaning that voters across the County vote on all of the members. The districts are simply there to ensure that each part of the County has a school board member that lives there.

This will be interesting!
