CD6: John Delaney to Make Major Endorsement Announcement Tuesday // Guess Who It Is

Maryland Juice received a media advisory from Democrat John Delaney's campaign that indicates a new endorsement is coming tomorrow. See the release below, along with my theory about who this mysterious endorser might be.

MY THEORY: Who could this mysterious endorser be? The Delaney camp simply refers to the person as a "major statewide elected official." I highly doubt that Governor O'Malley or Senators Cardin & Mikulski are going to be endorsing John Delaney, and the Lieutenant Governor is already in for State Senator Rob Garagiola. That means it could be either Attorney General Doug Gansler or Comptroller Peter Franchot. Maryland Juice thinks that we can expect to see Franchot endorsing Delaney tomorrow. Almost a month ago, The Frederick News-Post published an article noting that Peter Franchot planned to make an endorsement in the CD6 race:
State Sen. David Brinkley's congressional campaign questioned this week whether the state comptroller would endorse one of his party's candidates in the race.

But when asked Wednesday about the prospect of backing a Republican for Congress, Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot squelched the idea.

"I'm a proud Democrat," he said, adding that he planned to endorse a 6th District candidate from within his own party.

The Brinkley campaign that day had sent out a news release interpreting Franchot's concern about tax increases -- reported in the Hagerstown Herald-Mail -- as a sign that the comptroller was thinking of lending support to someone outside the Democratic Party.

Much more on the CD6 race soon!
