Maryland Democrats Take On Rick Perry, Romney Piles On // Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown to Highlight "Disastrous Record"

Today, the Maryland Democratic Party is hosting a press call to highlight Texas Governor Rick Perry's "disastrous record." Notably, Gov. Martin O'Malley last week "thanked" Mr. Perry for not being racist and supporting in-state tuition for undocumented residents.

Now, Mr. O'Malley appears to be passing the attack-dog baton to Lt. Governor Anthony Brown, and Perry-rival Mitt Romney is seizing on the moment (thanks for the assist, Mitt). Today, Mr. Romney released a new web video titled, "They Agree," which states, "Governor Perry, Maryland welcomes you. You will fit right in." Maryland Juice has the video below, as well as some more details on this presidential dueling!

Today's Democratic press call comes in response to a fundraiser Mr. Perry hosted in Baltimore this morning. The Sun (who will soon be lock-boxing online content), had this pre-event coverage:
Texas Gov. Rick Perry, a Republican, is set to make a stop in Baltimore later this month to raise money for his presidential bid, an event that would be his first in Maryland since announcing his national intentions last month.

Organizing the fundraiser is Republican money man Dick Hug, a veteran from Gov. Robert Ehrlich's tenure. He also raised money for President George W. Bush....

The Perry fundraiser is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. Tuesday Sept. 27 at The Center Club in downtown Baltimore. Tickets are $2,500 and include a photo-op with the presidential hopeful, according to a list compiled by Annapolis lobbyist Bruce Bereano.

$2,500 for a photo with Rick Perry? Yeah right....  According to the Democrats, the following people will highlight problems with his record:
As Rick Perry heads to Maryland for a fundraiser in Baltimore, the Maryland Democratic Party will be holding a conference call with press on Tuesday, September 27 at 2:15 p.m. EDT with Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown, Salisbury Mayor Jim Ireton, Maryland Democratic Party Chair Yvette Lewis and Rita Haecker, President of the Texas State Teachers Association, to discuss Perry’s disastrous record and his agenda, which will hurt the middle class, seniors and students while protecting millionaires and big business.

Not one to pass up an opportunity to zing rivals, GOP Presidential candidate Mitt Romney issued this video today:

Ouch! We'll check back in after the call, folks.
