Maryland Sen. Rob Garagiola Announces Endorsement of Howard County Exec. Ken Ulman, Updates CD6 Endorsements

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

"ENDORSEMENTS CONTINUE TO PILE UP FOR ROB GARAGIOLA"

Howard County Executive Ken Ulman Says Garagiola Represents Way to Improve Washington

GERMANTOWN – More than forty state and local, current and former elected officials and Democratic leaders from all over Western Maryland have lined up today behind Rob Garagiola’s grassroots campaign for Congress. This impressive list of backers believe that Garagiola’s record of fighting for middle class families will best serve the Sixth Congressional District in Congress.

Howard County Executive Ken Ulman, who led today’s endorsements, said, “I’m endorsing Rob because we share the same agenda of creating new green energy jobs, improving public schools and working hard to ensure that government is responsive. I believe that young, proven leaders who bring people together to get things done are the way we improve government ‐ and Rob fits the bill perfectly.”

Lt. Governor Anthony Brown, the Montgomery County Fire Fighters, and all three IBEW Locals representing the Sixth Congressional District have also endorsed Garagiola’s campaign in the past two weeks.

Former Frederick County Delegate and former Vice Chair of the State Democratic Party Sue Hecht, who will serve as Treasurer of the Garagiola Campaign, said: “Rob is the right person at the right time to not only win the Democratic nomination for Congress, but to help create new jobs and lasting economic growth for our families. His energy, smarts and proven record of winning the biggest fights in Maryland makes him the clear choice for those of us who live in and work for the communities of the new sixth congressional district.”
Garagiola, the youngest person elected to the Maryland Senate in 2002, rose quickly to the position of Majority Leader by building coalitions and finding practical solutions to help the middle class. Garagiola led efforts to limit state tuition increases, provide health care to nearly all of Maryland’s children, retain and attract thousands of new Maryland jobs, and invest in public schools even while cutting five billion dollars from Maryland’s budget.

“I am deeply honored by the outpouring of support for my campaign. I’ve spent my career working hard and bringing people together to get important things done. The local leaders from all over our district who have endorsed my campaign recognize that we need to end the useless partisan infighting in Washington and get our economy moving again. If I’m granted the privilege of representing the people of the 6th District, that’s exactly what I plan to do,” said Garagiola.
