AFL-CIO Endorses Rob Garagiola for Congress in
Maryland’s Sixth Congressional District
Rallying behind the grassroots support and citing his proven track record of fighting for Maryland’s middle class and working families, the AFL-CIO, America’s largest labor organization, endorsed State Senator Rob Garagiola for Congress in Maryland’s Sixth Congressional District. The endorsement comes amidst a flurry of support from labor unions and community leaders.

“In the Maryland State Senate and as Majority Leader, Rob Garagiola has taken on and won the tough fights for Maryland’s middle class and working families. Rob has a proven track record of strengthening collecting bargaining rights for workers, creating green energy jobs in our state, and expanding healthcare access for Marylanders,” said Fred D. Mason, Jr., President of the Maryland State and DC AFL-CIO. “The choice is obvious: Rob Garagiola is the only candidate in both the primary and general election who has stood up for working families and will continue to be a champion for labor unions. If you care about the future of working families in Maryland, then you should support Rob Garagiola for Congress,” Mason concluded.

“The endorsement of the AFL-CIO is validation of my proven track record of fighting for Maryland’s middle class and working families. Other candidates can say they’ll fight for working families, but I’m the only one who’s rolled up his sleeves and gotten the job done,” stated Rob Garagiola. “When elected to Congress, I’ll continue my tradition of taking on and winning the tough fights for Maryland’s working families,” Garagiola said.

Rob Garagiola is the only candidate in the primary or general election to have received an endorsement from a labor union. He’s received the endorsements of AFSCME, SEIU, UFCW, NEA, IBEW, IAFF, and the Montgomery County Fraternal Order of Police. At a time of unprecedented onslaughts and attacks against unions and working families across the country, Rob Garagiola has been and will continue to be a champion for organized labor and working families in Maryland.

For the past decade, Rob has stood in solidarity with unions across our state. Rob has fought to protect and expand labor rights, advocate fair wages and working conditions, and safeguard workers’ compensation.
