John Delaney Wins 6th Congressional District Democratic Primary in a Landslide // VICTORY PARTY PHOTOS

A crowded and boisterous election night party with CD6 Democrat John Delaney's supporters.

DELANEY LANDSLIDE
: Maryland Juice dropped by John Delaney's campaign victory party last night to try and learn more about the new Democratic nominee from the 6th Congressional District. His supporters had much to celebrate, given that their candidate defied the early odds and won the CD6 Democratic Primary in a landslide. The unofficial totals at the moment show Delaney with a strong majority of the vote at 54.4%, and his nearest rival State Sen. Rob Garagiola a distant 25 points behind. Earlier in the evening, we noted that Delaney was even beating Garagiola in the Montgomery County portion of CD6, where the veteran lawmaker has a lengthy record of service.

CD6 DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY
  1. John Delaney - 19,581 (54.4%)
  2. Rob Garagiola - 10,467 (29.1%)
  3. Milad Pooran - 3,457 (9.6%)
  4. Charles Bailey - 1,446 (4.0%)
  5. Ron Little - 1,054 (2.9%)
BARTLETT WINS BUT WITHOUT MAJORITY SUPPORT: On the Republican side of the CD6 race, Rep. Roscoe Bartlett handily beat back his GOP challengers. Even still, the 20-year Congressional veteran fell far short of majority of support from within his own party. In fact, John Delaney in his first run for office received more votes in the Democratic Primary than Rep. Bartlett did in his GOP Primary. I think this may spell the beginning of the end for Mr. Bartlett, but Maryland Juice will have more to say about that later.

CD6 REPUBLICAN PRIMARY
  1. Roscoe G. Bartlett - 16,796 - (43.5%)
  2. David R. Brinkley - 7,632 - (19.8%)
  3. Kathy Afzali - 3,969 - (10.3%)
  4. Joseph T. Krysztoforski - 3,001 - (7.8%)
  5. Brandon Orman Rippeon - 2,735 - (7.1%)
  6. Robin Ficker - 2,689 - (7.0%)
  7. Robert Coblentz - 922 - (2.4%)
  8. Peter James- 899 - (2.3%)

Below, see a few photos I took at John Delaney's election night party. There was a fairly large crowd assembled, along with a decent media presence. I spotted a few of Delaney's endorsers in the crowd, including Comptroller Peter Franchot, former MoCo Executive Doug Duncan, Rep. Donna Edwards and MoCo Councilmember Valerie Ervin. Attorney General Doug Gansler and Del. Bill Frick also made appearances, and Board of Education District 2 candidate Fred Evans also paid a visit.
